We asked students at BISFA for their favorite horror movies! One movie screamed the loudest at the school and was crowned the Monarch of Murderers.
Third: The Conjuring. A 2013 horror film revolving around the abilities of the supernatural, directed by James Wan. It was praised by critics and grossed over $319 million worldwide, featuring Bathsheba Sherman as the main antagonist.
Second: Stephen King’s, “IT.” In this 2017 psychological horror film, an evil shape-shifting clown named Pennywise emerges from a drainage system every twenty-seven years, and being the main antagonist, he targets a select group of teenagers and a small boy named Georgie. Taking place in Derry, Maine, Andrés Muschietti, the director, uses supernatural elements combined with psychological terrors to create a truly memorable film.
Honorable Mentions: In fourth place, Nightmare on Elm Street, in fifth place, The Exorcism, and in sixth place, Terrifier.
First Place: The Monarch of Murders is revealed as Scream. This 1996 psychological manipulation thriller uses suspense and mystery to its advantage. A masked murderer named Ghostface begins to call their victims, threatening them and eventually ending their lives with either an 8-inch bowie knife or anyway they see fit. The director, Wes Craven, made this $173 million grossing film
