As a reader, I find myself in constant pursuit to find new books, and balance my ever-growing T.B.R. with random books at the library I grab when bored. This valentine's season there are more romance books than ever. So without further ado, here is a short list of honest book reviews to shorten your T.B.R. this Valentine's season.

Heartstopper: Alice Oseman
TW: Abusive Relationship, non-consensual kissing, homophobia, and bullying.
“Heartstopper” is a widely loved series about two boys who fall for each other as they struggle with school and social life. The series deals with serious issues such as eating disorders, sexual assault and bullying.
The story itself has been very successful. It has been made into a TV show on Netflix and has many spinoff books. The three seasons of the show cover all five comics. Certainly a binge worthy TV show, if you are willing to handle a little cringe.
As for whether I would recommend the book: yes, absolutely. Although it deals with extremely heavy topics, it is also very heartwarming. It's one of those books that has you kicking your feet and blushing. One of those books that you have your friends read and annotate in the margins. It's one of those books, although cheesy, garnered the attention of enough people to make it into a TV show.

Imogen, Obviously: Becky Albertalli
TW: Biphobia, homophobia, and toxic relationships.
“Imogen, Obviously” is a decently known novel about a sapphic romance focused around the transition to college, and discovering things about yourself. This book is less well-known, compared to most of the books I mention. Although it seems to be popular on social media, and is a New York Times Bestseller, so it'd be a lie to say it isn't loved.
Now poses the question, is it actually a good book? Yes. Although the plot can be tedious in some places, and it is most definitely a slow burn, it's quite enjoyable. It talks a lot about moving through life, and how each stage means new opportunities. Personally, I found the audiobook has a very melodic tone, and wraps listeners up in a nice warm hug.
🌹
Twilight: Stephenie Meyers
TW: Kidnapping, controlling relationship, attempted sexual assault, murder, and depression.
“Twilight” is a widely known book, loved by many, made fun of by more. It covers the story of Bella Swan— a new girl— falling in love with a vampire. It is one of a multi-book saga with extensive explanations about the world in which it is based.
The saga has been insanely successful, producing five movies, and making tweens obsessed since 2005. Its public recognition is both positive and negative, with many people criticizing its contents.
Should you read it? Personally, I think no. Although its extensive fan base would say otherwise, it’s just a silly book. It's made fun of for a reason. The plot has clear holes you can see straight through. It features the iconic pick-me girl mindset, which can annoy the reader.
