BISFA has put on four excellent performances of Hadestown: Teen Edition. The musical follows the tragic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Finn McNeal and V Hendershot played the lead roles of Orpheus and Eurydice. Their signing was beautiful and truly captured the emotion in the play.
All of the performers did a wonderful job in the musical. While I don’t usually get emotional, I had to hold back tears watching Eurydice be pulled back into the underworld. It was evident that everyone had put an immense amount of effort into the show. It truly paid off. My favorite song was Why We Build the Wall. The actors were also really good and conveyed the humor of the play. Especially with Persephone’s character played by Laya Bargunier. It was so fun to watch! The part of the performance I enjoyed the most was the fates’ harmonies. They were played by Willow Howell, Camila Portillo, and Ella Rowland.
Aside from the acting, the pit was phenomenal as well. One of the unique things about the pit in Hadestown is that it’s onstage. Usually the musicians are unseen. It was making them characters added to the story. The music for Hadestown is supposed to be reminiscent of 30s blues and jazz. I really enjoyed it.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the musical!
