Honoring Friendships for Valentine's Day

By Eleanor Clayton

Since Valentine’s day is coming up it’s a good time to recognize all the friendships at this BISFA. Friends like freshmen Maya Davis, a creative writer, and Grace Mendez, a dancer, have been making our school feel more like a home, with their bubbly conversations and care for each other. They’re planning on celebrating Valentines with each other this year.

Maya and Grace have been good friends for over a year now. They first met in their 8th grade ELA class when Grace transferred to their school. Maya was shy at first but instantly knew she wanted to befriend her. Once Grace became a part of her friend group they became inseparable.

When asked about Grace, her immediate response was: “I LOVE GRACE!” She added excitedly: “She’s so funny and nice… and she gives me food.”

Another delightful pair of friends are Zoey and Brielle. Zoey is a theater major who loves physiology. Brielle is someone with a creative fashion sense and enjoys being in visual arts. While they don’t remember how they met they became good friends at the end of Zoey’s Freshman year.

Zoey told Brielle what they love about her is: “You’re so passionate about everything you do.” Brielle responded with: “You have a lot of care with what you do too; and you’re really funny. Especially when you take things out of context.” The two of them had such a strong friendship.

Zoey added: “When we became friends, my social life became so much better.”

If you hear playful arguing in the hallways it might be Gwen Shedd, a visual artist with stylish neon hair and her friend Rory, another visual artist. They met through their department but became friends through the art group chat.

Gwen’s favorite thing about Rory is, “Their silliness!” Rory also helped Gwen setup art for her exhibit.

Lastly, Dahlia Borowski and her friend Cheridan met in their department (vocal music). They got close because they were part of the same friend group. Dahlia’s favorite thing about Cheridan is that she has an amazing fashion sense.

Throughout all the departments there are so many friends at this school. They all love each other for different reasons. Valentine's day is going to be wonderful with all of the people at this school who care about each other!
